The New England Orienteering Club
  • June 9 Blue Hills (Milton, MA)Come out to the Blue Hills for a mass start Score-O event. If you have time, stay around for a picnic and chill meeting. The mass start will begin at 10:30am with an hour time cap. There will also be a white and yellow course available for starts from 10:30-11:00. We are still looking for a few volunteers for the event. Sign up here. A few highlights:
    • New England Fundraiser for National Team Travel: The fundraiser will feature two components: a sale of old NEOC and National team gear, and a raffle featuring one cake, a pair of orienteering earrings, and a SI Air. Tickets will be $5 or 5 tickets for $20. Prizes awarded at picnic.
    • Board Elections: We will elect new board members at the picnic. We have five amazing candidates running for five open positions. Check out the candidate bios.
    • 2023 Meet Director Thank yous and Volunteer Program: We will hand-out a small thank you for 2023 meet directors and talk about the 'free orienteering card' that volunteers receive for helping out.
  • Junior and National Team Member Stipends: NEOC is offering travel stipends (between $300 to $1500) for juniors and OUSA national team members who apply. We ask that applicants send a short e-mail addressing the following criteria:
    • The national/international competition or training activity that the funds will be used to support;
    • How you have supported NEOC activities during Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 (or state how you plan to if you haven't had a chance to yet); and
    • NEOC club status.
    If you receive the stipend, we also encourage you to write a brief blog post for the website. People like to know about you and your experience! Interested, send questions and your e-mail applications to Wendy Johnecheck and David Landigran (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Submissions are due by June 15.
  • June 13 - Spring Park-O Thursday Series (SPOTS): We are at the final event of the series at Pine Banks park in Malden, MA. Pre-registration is required by Tuesday before the event.
