Registration and Starts: Registration will be open from 9:30am to 11:30am. Starts will run from 10:00am to noon with two-minute spacings.

Boats: All non-inflated, sea-worthy, muscle-powered craft are eligible. NECKRA members will have their boat classes recorded for the NECKRA flatwater point series.

Maps: Color, printed on waterproof Teslin paper.

“Score-O” format: Visit the controls in any order. There will be three courses:

  • Long course with 15-16 controls
  • Medium course with 12 controls
  • Short course with 6 controls

Special considerations: There is the possibility of some motorboat activity on the lake. We’ll be running the event adjacent to a lovely swimming beach, so go for a swim, bring a lunch and enjoy a day at the beach after your race. Note that Amesbury is generally accessed from Rte 495, which can become quite busy with traffic on summer Saturday mornings with beach-goers heading for the coast, so plan your trip accordingly.

Footwear: Flip-flops and bare feet are not appropriate for Canoe-O. Old sneakers, water shoes or sturdy sandals are strongly recommended.

Life jackets: One appropriately-sized US Coast Guard approved life jacket, in good and serviceable condition, must be in the boat and easily accessible for each person. Children under 12 years of age must wear their life jackets at all times while on the water.

Rental Boats: There are no canoe or kayak rentals available at the race site.
