This Sunday, Oct 21, we are holding a beginner's meet on a new 1:4000 map of DCR's Historic Beaver Brook, on the border between Belmont and Waltham, MA. There will be white, yellow, and sprint courses, all of which are shorter than normal. This is a small, confined area with open grass and friendly woods on the section of the park south of Trapelo road, a great area for children or people new to the sport. For those experienced orienteers who are not going to the North American Championships, I have added a 2nd sprint course in the section north of Trapelo road. These woods are rocky and thick, with ponds, streams, and water falls. Parking is in the main lot on Waverley Oaks Road, just west of Trapelo Road. [Google Map]
