Join NEOC for the first event at Townsend State Forest since 2005! Townsend is a complex forest with rich contour detail and intricate vegetation. The map is large - over eight square kilometers.
Attention: One of the control setters spotted a group of about five black bears in the northwestern sector of the map near one of the controls. The longer advanced courses go through that area; please use caution if you encounter a bear. Calmly back away, clearly identify yourself as human, and do not run. Additional reading. Also note that one tick was found; there are likely others.

Directions:
Parking for the event is in the lot behind the Townsend Town Library at 12 Dudley Road, Townsend MA. Registration, Start and Finish are at a trailhead about 800 meters from the parking lot. Participants can drop people off at the event site, but parking is very limited, so attendees must park in the Town Library parking lot. You can reach the event site either by walking along Dudley Road or taking a trail through the woods.
