We had about 120 starts and 150 orienteers come enjoy a wonderful sunny spring day in Prospect Hill in Waltham. With the snow melted and the vegetation still not in, conditions were great for orienteering with good visibility and generally quite open woods. The range of participants spanned all ages and levels of experience, from new members joining us for their first event to visiting orienteers from both Norway and Denmark.

The courses were set to maximize the use of the most attractive terrain in the park, while avoiding sending anyone directly over the hills. This seem to have been enjoyed by many even if most courses needed one or more loops to make it possible. It is very nice to notice how just about everyone who started out on a course also managed to finish it, even if in accomplishing this, some took more time than others.

In preparation for the meet, a special thank you is in order to the city of Waltham for granting us access to the park a day before it being officially open to the public and to DivcoWest for letting us use their parking lot. From NEOC, Tim Parson and Joanne Sankus were a great help in providing certificates and calling for volunteers when needed.

The day-of help was plenty and all efforts were greatly appreciated. Tim Parson, Tobias Karlsson, Judith Karpinski, Roger Underwood and Joe Usoff all helped make the registration process flow smoothly.  Jim Pachetto, and Jim and Logan Crawford once again mastered the timing equipment with expertise, while Ian Smith, Bob Dangel and Tobias Karlsson extended themselves and picked up controls after running their respective courses.
